چکیده

The destructive soilborne Fusarium species is one of the most serious challenges facing agriculture. Mycotoxins produced by spp. can induce both acute and chronic toxic effects on humans animals. Massive investments have been made in last few decades to develop an appropriate management strategy control cereals, particularly wheat, using genetic resistance other practices, with varied outcomes. purpose this research was find new sources culmorum F. pseudograminearum, which are wheat’s pathogens seedlings adult plants stages. In study, 26 lines were selected promoted from a total 200 spring wheat germplasm received CIMMYT Mexico plus 6 local check lines. 32 screened for their reactions under different environmental conditions. discriminant factorial analysis indicated that 7, 12, 5 resistant against field, greenhouse, growth room conditions, respectively. Four lines, L12, L19, L21, L26, found be jointly at seedling stages field greenhouse. On hand, only moderately pseudograminearum but not completely resistant, limited Interestingly, five (L10, L13, L17, L25, L28) shown properties species. To further evaluate yield performance best-selected trials conducted ± inoculum. highest values obtained three as well showed consistency its reaction greenhouse high (5342 kg/ha). Based result obtained, L26 potential improve culmorum-caused root crown rot; therefore, it should used crossing programs. Having Fusarium-resistant varieties will ultimately reduce rot symptoms increase grain quality reducing mycotoxin levels.

Identification and characterization of a novel Iraqi isolate of Fusarium pseudograminearum causing crown rot in wheat.

Crown rot is one of the main important fungal diseases affecting wheat in many areas of the world, including Australia, USA, and Iran. Until now, there had been no report of this pathogen in Iraq. Plants displaying crown rot symptoms were observed in Shaat Alarab (Basra, Iraq); we investigated the causal agent of the disease. Samples were surface-sterilized in bleach (1% available chlorine...

FcStuA from Fusarium culmorum Controls Wheat Foot and Root Rot in a Toxin Dispensable Manner

Fusarium culmorum is one of the most harmful pathogens of durum wheat and is the causal agent of foot and root rot (FRR) disease. F. culmorum produces the mycotoxin deoxynivalenol (DON) that is involved in the pathogenic process. The role of the gene FcStuA, a StuA ortholog protein with an APSES domain sharing 98.5% homology to the FgStuA protein (FGSG10129), was determined by functional charac...

The Fusarium crown rot pathogen Fusarium pseudograminearum triggers a suite of transcriptional and metabolic changes in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Background and Aims Fusarium crown rot caused by the fungal pathogen Fusarium pseudograminearum is a disease of wheat and barley, bearing significant economic cost. Efforts to develop effective resistance to this disease have been hampered by the quantitative nature of resistance and a lack of understanding of the factors associated with resistance and susceptibility. Here, we aimed to dissect ...

First report of Fusarium chlamydosporum causing crown rot and dumping of on Durum wheat in Algeria

Several species of Fusarium infect durum wheat plants in the eastern part of Algeria. Endophytic fungus from random wheat seeds were sampled from fifty locations in eastern Algeria and shows the existence of Fusarium chlamydosporum regarding the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. Molecular identification using EF1 and ITS1 primers were confirmed the presence of Fusarium chlamydosporum...
